Medicine wheel:

The medicine wheel is an old symbol used by many North American native tribes. The medicine wheel teaches us what goes around comes around. Birds’ nests are in the shape of a circle as well as trees, the earth, the turbulent wind turns in a circle, the moon and sun are round. Our life is made of energy and this energy, which is merged with atoms and molecules, turn in a circle. This energy keeps us alive and resides within their proper path around the medicine wheel. The medicine wheel has no beginning, no end.

The 4 directions and the 4 seasons have no end. The development of human aptitude is infinite and the medicine wheel forever turns. The making of a medicine wheel is a native ritual that expresses the relationship between man, nature and the cosmos. The ritual manifests by maintaining or restoring the interior and exterior harmony, for example, for healing the sick, or when life giving rain is needed or to celebrate a good hunt. Actually there are a lot of us who feel physically and spiritually unbalanced. Often it is just a disruption in the relationship between man and the environment. This is usually apparent in the lack of meaning and peace within.

The medicine wheel is used as a source of inspiration for all kinds of rituals whether they are personal, group celebrations or creative expressions. Harmony can equally be stimulated through their surroundings. A lot of links will be forged between the rituals and ceremonies whether they come from ancient or modern cultures. The sacred circle symbolically represents our multi-dimensional world.

The medicine wheel is composed of the center, the four directions and the seven clans that represent the seven stars that human beings originated from. There is also a yellow path to the east, a red path to the south, a black path to the west and a white path to the north. Also represented are the 12 moons, the wind, the 4 secondary directions as well as other things that are also part of the medicine wheel even though they are not represented physically. For the autochthons, the word medicine is more that a simple restoration of health and vitality.

Medicine is knowledge that helps us to restore harmony on all levels of our beings, whether it is energetic, emotional, physical, spiritual or environmental. Medicine is a chart that demonstrates the phases of our existence, our projects and our actions. It is very important that a cycle be completed without missing a step.

When creating a medicine wheel, we build a very strong vortex of energy. So according to our needs, with the appropriate stones, we create a vortex of energy that circulates through us and around us, harmonising our environment that helps us find our place in the universe. We also use the medicine wheel to amplify a ritual or an event.

The medicine wheel remains a healing circle ceremony for many native nations. Often used within autochthon assemblies, the healing circle ceremony permits participants to speak to their community and to find psychological support. The healing circle ceremony places an emphasis on the bond that exists between the people and their community.

The native healers teach that personal or physical healing can happen as long as the person tries hard to establish their relations with the exterior world.
